The Blue Ridge Art Clan exhibit “Shadow of the Hills” returns to the Gallery of Ashe Art Center. This exhibit opened May 28 and will continue through July 5. Twenty-six artists are displaying 64 pieces of artwork in a variety of media.
The Blue Ridge Art Clan began in the early 1970’s when Ashe County artist Florence Thomas organized the group. The Art Clan flourishes today with over 45 members from Ashe and surrounding counties. It sponsors opportunities for beginning to experienced artists to participate in educational activities, the creative process and the appreciation of the Fine Arts. The Art Clan meetings are every 4th Saturday from March to October and will be held at Jefferson Station. The “Shadow of the Hills” exhibit has been part of the Ashe Arts Center exhibit schedule since the Ashe County Arts Council moved into the building in 1993.
For the current exhibit artists have created a diverse collection of paintings in oil, watercolor, pastels, acrylics, collages and mixed media. Artists included in the exhibit are Betty B.
